34 – Cat Fishing

Sometimes I write poetry about my cat.

Loop the string through the

rungs of the chair back so

its

frayed end

dangles, inviting.

Twitch the line to

shimmy-shimmy-shake in

her peripheral vision.

Watch the slant green eyes

slide over her prey, the

diminutive inky paws unfurl

ivory knives.

Strike!
